Board of Directors
Sandy Moise
Director of Education & Policy
Sandy Moise is a compassionate educator and environmental advocate who has dedicated 36 years to empowering others through fostering knowledge and a deeper appreciation for the world around us. As a teacher, she played a vital role in fostering a positive learning environment for her students, encouraging their curiosity. As an assistant principal she emphasized a supportive and collective approach to leadership, engaging teachers, students, and parents to create a conducive learning environment. As Dean of The Parent Academy Sandy recognized the importance of involving parents and caregivers in the educational process.
Sandy has become a prominent advocate for native plants and the creation of urban habitats that support birds, butterflies, marine life and other wildlife. She tirelessly champions their protection and conservation efforts. Her advocacy extends to the broader community, where she collaborates with like-minded individuals and organizations to implement effective strategies for environmental preservation. Her effectiveness has led to the success of several initiatives and legislation aimed at making a positive impact on the environment.
Alexander Sherer

Alexander was born and raised in Miami, Florida and grew up exploring Biscayne Bay. He first engaged with UPG in 2009 at eight years old on a mangrove reforestation project, later joining as an intern during highschool. After graduating from UC Berkeley with a Bachelor's in Political Science and Conservation Studies, he has returned to UPG as our first Director of Science and youngest board member. Alexander enjoys hiking, paddling, traveling, insects, and experiencing music.
David Grieser

An internal audit professional with a focus on fraud/forensics/ethics and risk management. Ten years of experience across internal audit and fraud consulting. Professional goal: drive value creation in organizations. Personally passionate about the environment, urban living, and service to the community. In my free time, I enjoy the ocean, scuba diving, being outdoors and recently: pickleball. A lover of all types of reading. Full time cat dad. South Florida resident since 2008.
