This is a special Earth Day event. If you sign up for it, your commitment is from 8am-11am. The community Cookout comes later, and all are welcome (but no service hours). Everything is Family Friendly

VOLUNTEER PROJECT
SCHEDULE: 8am-11am
NAVIGATE: 2605 NE 135th St. Carpooling is ENCOURAGED, since parking is limited.
PROJECT: Mangrove Planting
PREP: Be prepared to get grubby, and possibly muddy Eat a real breakfast or bring a snack – you will need the energy Bring a water bottle – we will have refills Wear closed-toed shoes that can get muddy Dress for the heat. Hat and long sleeves are good for sun protection Sunscreen and bug repellent: bring your preferred type or use ours Work gloves and tools are provided by UPG
BATHROOM: There will be a portapotty nearby, so plan accordingly
COMMUNITY BBQ (Free Food, but no Volunteer service hours)
FROM: 11am – around 2pm (or when people are feeling done)
DETAILS: * This is an outdoor event in the ACENA Median (NE 135th St) next to ACE Preserve. * Hot BBQ Grill provided (wood charcoal) * Chilled soft beverages * Hot Dogs * Bring your own prepped food for the grill and to share * Takes place in the shade of big Mahogany trees * Bring a chair, blanket or towel to sit on
Tree Dedication: We will be planting additional shade trees in the ACENA Median, honoring Tom Kournalis. He was the dedicated leader of ACENA, and recently passed away.
E-RECYCLING: There will be a spot where you can drop off e-waste for recycling.
