UPG, Biscayne Bay Aquatic Preserves (State DEP), City of Miami Parks and Miami-Dade County Parks invite you to our Stewardship Project at Morningside Picnic Island. Boat transportation starts/ends at Pelican Harbor Marina.
PROJECTS Primary: Pick up Marine Debris, for transport off the island. Secondary: Remove Invasives and provide Stewardship on the island. You can expect to do real work, get grubby, and make the world a better place.
RESERVATIONS are required, and close at 5pm the day before. This allows us to plan an effective project.

CHECK special instructions, which may be sent out the day before the project (like weather factors). If none are sent, navigate as described next.
NAVIGATE to 1275 NE 79th St / 33138. Look for a huge antenna tower. After you enter, take the 2nd right and park anywhere. (Check your e-mail the morning of the event in case we send a last-minute update about the project, weather, etc).
BRING / Wear / Prepare Bring a water bottle, closed-toed shoes & dress for the weather. Expect to get wet and grubby. A towel for your car is good. Gardening gloves, favorite sunblock and bug repellent are optional. UPG will provide Tools, Gloves, and endless ice water refills. You will be doing real work, so eat a real breakfast or bring a snack (you will need the energy).
BATHROOM There is a bathroom on the boat, which will be with us. Thanks, County Parks!
SCHEDULE Volunteers, see above. UPG Staff, coordinate with your supervisor.
