The tour is 2 miles total, but at a slow pace with lots of pauses to take in the environment. The level of difficulty is easy.

The preserve is a perpetually changing environment that seasonally floods and dries down. It is home to a variety of threatened and endangered species.

Attendees need to wear:
Sneakers only (no boots – they get stuck in the mud)
Long sleeve shirt & Long pants for protection from sun and bugs
A hat

What to Bring:
At least 2 liters of water per person
Lunch or snacks
A complete change of clothes (most likely you will get grubby depending on the time of the year)
Clean shoes
A plastic bag for your muddy clothing

What you might expect seasonally
SPRING (March – June) The water levels are much reduced or absent all together. The swamp surface is usually muddy or even dry in some areas. Spring in the swamp is the time for the numerous shades of new green growth to emerge. Water levels 0″- 12″.
