And Mother Earth has some questions. Join Urban Paradise Guild and the Underline for an evening of comedy, improv, environmental storytelling, and audience participation as a very unusual family tries to make sense of what's happening to the world around them. There are stories to tell. There are characters to question. There may even be a culprit or two... And you get to help figure it all out.
Don't worry—we're not giving away the answer. You'll have to meet the characters yourself.
Mother Earth has seen a thing or two
Father Time has been around long enough to have a few opinions
Their son is trying to understand what is happening to the world he has inherited
Together, they take you on a hilarious—and sometimes surprising—journey through the story of the Pine Rockland and the forces that have shaped its fate. Along the way, you'll meet some very interesting characters who may have more to do with the situation than they're willing to admit. Let's just say...Everyone has a story. And some stories are a lot funnier than others.
This Isn't a Show You Just Sit and Watch 🎭 Mystery Under the Underline is an interactive theater experience, which means you're part of what happens. You'll meet the characters, hear their stories, ask questions, and interact with the cast as the mystery unfolds. Our local improv actors will bring the characters to life—and because it's improv, you never quite know where the conversation will go. You might discover a clue. You might uncover a contradiction. You might ask a question that sends the investigation in an entirely unexpected direction. And you might laugh along the way. A Little Comedy. A Little Mystery. A Lot of Pine Rockland. Underneath all the laughs is a story about one of South Florida's most unique ecosystems. Through the characters and the mystery, you'll discover what makes the Pine Rockland special, what it needs to survive, and the surprising forces that have contributed to its decline. We're bringing science to life through story, comedy, and characters you won't soon forget. So... Who Killed the Pine Rockland? That's the question. But here's a hint: The answer isn't as simple as you think. Come meet the characters. Ask the questions. Enjoy the show. And see if you can figure out what really happened.

We’re grateful to The Underline for supporting Mystery Under the Underline through a USDA-funded grant. This support is helping Urban Paradise Guild bring a creative, interactive environmental experience to the community—free and open to the public. Through this partnership, we’re bringing together environmental education, local theater, comedy, and community connection to shine a light on one of South Florida’s most unique ecosystems: the Pine Rockland. Thank you to The Underline for helping us make this experience possible!
